Acquisition
What it shows
Open Journal -> Acquisition. This report connects player activity to the referring domain and UTM source recorded when the master account was registered. Compare audiences and receipts from different sources over a selected period.
The example below contains three real local registrations: two have a recorded source and one has no referring domain. No payments are recorded for this audience, so the report explicitly shows no receipts.
Activity Modes
| Activity | What is counted |
|---|---|
| Registrations | Master account creation. Each player is counted once within their project. |
| Successful logins | All recorded successful logins during the period, not just the first. Repeated logins increase events, not unique players. |
| Game account creation | Game accounts created during the period. A master account can create more than one game account. |
Attribution stays with the master account's registration. Logging in later through another campaign link does not replace it. These modes are not a sequential funnel: registration, login and payment may occur in different periods.
When no successful logins are recorded for the selected period, this mode shows an empty result. Registration counts are not substituted for logins.
Filters
| Field | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Activity | Selects one of the three modes above. |
| Project | One accessible project or all team projects. Master accounts from different projects remain separate players. |
| Game server | Available after selecting a project. Includes only events and payments for that server. A registration without a selected server is not assigned to a server-specific result. |
| Period | A preset or a custom date range. |
| From (UTC), Through (UTC) | Both dates are inclusive UTC days. An unfinished period includes events received so far. |
| Referring domain | The exact recorded domain, without https:// or a page path. Leave empty to include all domains. |
| UTM source | The exact utm_source value, not the campaign name from utm_campaign. Leave empty to include all UTM values. |
| Grouping | Automatic, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. Long ranges use coarser chart intervals while retaining the entire selected period. |
| Only without a referring domain | Includes rows without a recorded domain and disables the domain field. The UTM filter still applies. |
| Rows per page | 25, 50 or 100 source combinations. It does not limit the overall totals or chart. |
Use the circular-arrow refresh button to apply filters. Reset restores the initial filters. Applied filters are stored in the page address and restored when you reopen it.
Unknown Sources
No referring domain means the domain was not recorded. It does not necessarily mean direct traffic: a browser, an application or privacy settings may have withheld it. No UTM source means utm_source was absent. The two are independent; a UTM value may exist without a domain.
The report does not invent a marketing channel for these records or reconstruct their source from later activity.
Metrics and Receipts
| Metric | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Events | Events of the selected type within the period. |
| Players | Distinct master accounts with those events. |
| Paying players | Players in this audience with qualifying payments in the same period. |
| Payments | Confirmed receipts from this audience within the same period and selected scope. Real top-ups and purchases count; guest and test payments, bonus grants and administrative credits do not. |
| Paying share | Paying players / players × 100%. With no audience, the report shows no data rather than a calculated percentage. |
| Gross receipts | The original amount of qualifying payments, separately for each currency. This is not profit: fees and subsequent refunds are not deducted here. |
Currencies are not combined or converted at an assumed exchange rate. For example, USD and EUR receipts appear separately. A payment can appear in several activity modes when the player has the corresponding events; do not add the mode totals together.
The chart shows event counts. The table groups rows by referring domain + UTM source. The number beside its heading is the total number of combinations. Use previous and next page buttons to see more rows. The summary always describes the whole result, not just the current page.
Empty Results and Refreshing
An empty result means no records match the current filters. Check the activity mode, period, project, server and exact source values.
If loading fails, a warning replaces the previous result. Refresh to retry. If new data arrives for the period while you browse pages, or the page expires, refresh and start browsing again.
The first page refreshes automatically while the tab is visible and you are not editing filters. Later pages do not advance automatically.
