Email Checks

Email checks protect player registration from disposable addresses and known unwanted domains.

Opening the Settings

  1. Open Projects -> Projects.
  2. Open the required project and select the Email tab.
  3. Click Configure checks.

Access to this page and permission to change external provider credentials are configured separately in administrator groups.

Check Policy

Enable the check and select the required sources. MX validation and Stop Forum Spam work without credentials. CleanTalk can use either the shared MMO-DEV WEB key or a project key.

DNS MX is a required baseline check, but an explicit MX record is not required. When MX is absent, the service checks the domain's valid SMTP fallback through A/AAAA. A null MX (MX 0 .) means that the domain intentionally does not accept email. A temporary DNS failure is not treated as a nonexistent address; it follows the selected When unavailable action.

Kickbox is paid for by the project owner and is disabled by default. To use it, first save the project's own Kickbox key under Credentials, then enable the provider. MMO-DEV WEB does not provide a shared Kickbox key.

Every project initially inherits the shared MMO-DEV WEB settings. After you save changes, the heading shows Project settings. Select Use shared settings to remove only the project policy and restore inheritance.

Policies, domain rules, and project credentials are isolated per project. If a team has two or three projects, changing one does not affect the others. A project key is not used for MMO-DEV WEB registration and is never shared with another project in the team.

Under When unavailable, select how registration should continue:

  • Allow - continue registration when an external source is temporarily unavailable;
  • Require email confirmation - continue only after the email address is verified.

The total deadline limits all external checks. Keep it short so that the registration form responds quickly.

Domain Rules

Enter a domain without a protocol or path, such as example.com, and select an action:

  • Deny - reject registration from this domain;
  • Allow - allow the domain for this project unless it is covered by a mandatory global block.

The note is visible to administrators and records why the rule exists. Adding the same domain again updates the existing rule.

Project Provider Credential

If a provider supports project credentials, save it under Credentials. Use the eye button to verify the value before saving. Entering a new value replaces the saved key.

For CleanTalk, select either Project key or MMO-DEV WEB key after saving. Kickbox always uses the project key. Kickbox cannot be enabled until its key is configured.

Verification

After saving, test registration in a private browser window:

  1. a working personal or business email completes registration;
  2. a denied domain receives a clear message;
  3. a temporary provider outage follows the selected behavior;
  4. email confirmation is delivered through the configured mail server.

Notes and descriptions

Use a rule note to explain why a domain is allowed or blocked. Add emphasis, lists or links when the explanation has several parts. The note is optional and appears alongside the saved rule.
